Perhaps you always wanted to visit the wine cellars at a Lake Constance winery, or fancied learning how to cook Bavarian and Swabian specialities? You have the opportunity from 15 till 29 October 2016, when it’s time for Autumn Food and Wine in Lindau.

15 days autumn food and wine

For 2 weeks, 5 villages in the Lindau area play host to a fascinating programme of events with a focus on regional products: wine, fruit, schnapps, herbs and cheeses. Numerous farm shops, vineyards and fruit growers in Lindau, Wasserburg, Nonnenhorn, Bodolz and Weißensberg open their doors to visitors. Every day guests and locals alike are treated to guided tours, tastings and cookery courses. Even the names of the events are intriguing: “Cheese meets beer”, “Join us in the restaurant kitchen” and “Baking bread in a wood-fired oven”.

You can enjoy these culinary highlights on two Saturdays in October: on 15 October 2016, enjoy the pleasures of the Wasserburg Food and Drink Walk. Seven stations along the route invite you to take a break and sample their delicious offerings. Two weeks later, on 29 October 2016, visit the wine village of Nonnenhorn. The streets are lined with 1,000 hand-carved pumpkin lanterns and the restaurants are alive with the sounds of boogie, swing and Dixie jazz during “Essen und Tschässen”, a celebration of food and jazz.

Still hungry for more? The try one of the ten restaurants and hotels that are participating in the event by offering special autumn menus featuring local dishes.
