Teresa Deufel Winery

Teresa Deufel’s vinyard produces quality wine from the Lindauer Spitalhalde terroir. The grapes are all selectively harvested by hand by Teresa Deufel. The whites are fermented cool and the reds are stored in barrique barrels for 6 to 8 months after the classic mash fermentation before the wine is bottled. Six different wines are bottled here: Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Johanniter, Solaris, Pinot Noir and Regent. The grapes are grown in the vineyards, all of which are located around the winery in Lindau/Schachen. The entire vineyard is cultivated organically.

Lindau wine since 1977

In 1975, Teresa Deufel’s father and uncle had the vision of reviving Lindau wine after a break of over 200 years, and Teresa is now carrying on this tradition. She spent five years studying the art of wine in the best German and Austrian wineries, poring over thick textbooks and attending a renowned viticultural school. Just as her father and uncle bottled the first Lindau wine in 1977, Teresa now stands in front of the vineyard and lives her dream of preserving Lindau wine.

Vineyard with a view

The Deufel family’s vineyard is one of the most southerly in Germany. At 400 to 500 metres above sea level, the vines here enjoy a wonderful view over Lake Constance. Geologically, it belongs to the unique moraine rock that originates from glacial deposits and gives the wines a delicate elegance and fruitiness. In addition to the rock, the Lake Constance climate with its mild temperatures also plays an important role: the year-round influence of the foehn wind from the south, which blows up the Rhine Valley, gives the wine its Mediterranean flavour.
