Austrian mountain also popular with Lindau residents

At an altitude of 1,064 metres, the mountain offers a unique view of Lake Constance and Lindau Island. When the weather is clear, a magnificent view of 240 Alpine peaks is guaranteed. From Lake Constance to the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps in the east, your gaze wanders over the Bregenz Forest. The steep peaks of the Arlberg and Silvretta are also visible, as are some Swiss mountains, including, of course, the Säntis in eastern Switzerland. In the Pfänder Alpine Wildlife Park, you can also see pygmy goats, hares, deer, ibex, wild boars, mouflons and marmots.

Excursion from Lindau to Pfänder

Take the train or boat from Lindau to Bregenz and hike up the mountain from there. The extensive network of walking and hiking trails offers ideal conditions for this. With the Pfänderbahn cable car, you can reach your destination effortlessly in just a few minutes.

Arrival by train
Take the train from Lindau main station to Bregenz Hafen. The journey takes about ten minutes. From there, the Pfänder mountain railway can be reached in five minutes. It is worth buying your ticket at the ÖBB ticket office at Lindau station, as it is cheaper than at the DB ticket office.

Arriving by boat
From April to mid-October, the easiest way to reach Bregenz from Lindau is by boat. The Pfänder valley station is only a five-minute walk from the harbour in Bregenz. You can purchase a discounted combined ticket for the boat and Pfänderbahn at the Lindau Tourist Information Office at Alfred-Nobel-Platz 1.
