Lighthouse

Lake Constance, that means water sports, skiing, excursions by boat and kilometres of cycle paths. It means delicious food, fantastic wines, breathtaking landscapes and countless wellness offers. When you go to Lake Constance, you have a family holiday full of adventure ahead of you, a romantic experience for two or fun with friends in a group, on the kayak tour just like sightseeing. Because no matter what kind of holiday you are looking for – you will find it here.

Accommodation at Lake Constance

The destination Lake Constance is quickly determined – after all, Germany’s largest lake with its proximity to the Alps offers a unique panorama with many excursion destinations. But where to sleep? In a hotel, an inn or a guesthouse? Is there a good range of holiday flats here and are there good campsites for those who simply want to spend more time outdoors?

Don’t worry: the range of accommodation on Lake Constance is enormous. Somewhere between Lindau, Constance and Bregenz you are sure to find a hotel or guesthouse that suits your needs: Self-caterers traditionally prefer to stay in holiday flats, while those who want all-round feel-good service book in a hotel. The only thing you should do is book your room in good time, regardless of the accommodation you choose, because of the large number of visitors.

Lake Constance holiday with family

Lake Constance is a hit, especially for families: Youngsters have fun surfing or swimming in summer and the younger ones are almost always enthusiastic about a boat trip across the upper lake. Thanks to the extensive childcare facilities in many family-friendly hotels, mum and dad can also take time for themselves and spend the afternoon having a cosy picnic.

Of course, there are also various offers around Lake Constance for everyone together – after all, you don’t travel as a family so that everyone does their own thing. Why not take a guided tour of the town or make yourself comfortable in one of the many lidos on the shores of Lake Constance.

Because agriculture has always played a special role in the Lake Constance region, farm holidays are naturally also popular. The Allgäu hinterland of Lake Constance in particular has dozens of farms just waiting for guests young and old.

Hiking and cycling at Lake Constance

Lake Constance and the magnificent Alps right on the doorstep: anyone looking for an active holiday will find everything their heart desires here. Countless kilometres of cycling and hiking trails invite you to extensive tours and also offer beginners all kinds of possibilities; after all, there are enough short routes that are suitable for families with younger children and, of course, mountain bike routes for the more adventurous.

Among the many cycle paths in the foothills of the Alps, the Lake Constance Cycle Path is probably the most popular: 273 kilometres that take you once completely around Lake Constance – through towns, villages, past beaches, nature and imposing buildings such as the pilgrimage church of Birnau. The Lake Constance-Königssee Cycle Path is even more challenging, taking you 440 kilometres from one lake to the other. However, because it is considered quite demanding even among advanced bike fans, inexperienced cyclists should rather approach it slowly.

Short holiday at Lake Constance

You only have a few days for your Lake Constance holiday? Then don’t make the mistake of really wanting to see all the sights of the four-country region in just one weekend. Others can’t do that in four weeks. Pick a city of your choice that you would like to visit: Constance, Bregenz, Meersburg, Lindau or one of the many cosy smaller communities. Then concentrate entirely on what’s on offer locally and in the surrounding region.

If you only have 48 hours or less for your Lake Constance trip anyway, you shouldn’t spend your time unnecessarily travelling between destinations as well. Of course, a short day trip to one of the islands Lindau in Lake Constance, Mainau or Reichenau should be possible. That’s why we recommend Lindau for your first short holiday on Lake Constance (the island is practically included).
