Wine-growers on the Bavarian shores of Lake Constance produce particularly fruity, aromatic wines. The lake region’s rolling hills and fertile soils, along with its geology and mild climate, provide perfect conditions for winegrowing.

Wines from Lake Constance

Sample tangy whites and smooth reds from the popular Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder and Dornfelder grape varieties. Set in the gentle Alpine foothills, the vineyards are separated from the Alpine summits by the lake, and they particularly benefit from the effects of the warm Föhn wind. The mild, almost Mediterranean climate of Lake Constance and its variety of terroirs, including glacial and volcanic soils, provide a perfect combination of conditions for producing extraordinary wines. Lake Constance also stores heat, so during the summer it acts like a hot water bottle.

Winegrowings in Lindau

In Lindau, Claudius Haug and Teresa Deufel are two winegrowers who mainly sell their wines directly to the public. Lindau’s winegrowing families support themselves with their vines. The annual Komm & See wine festival is a great opportunity to learn more about the region’s wonderful wines and explore the local vineyards. Twelve vineyards around Lindau open up their doors for wine tastings.
