From April 2021, as an overnight guest in Lindau, you will receive the Echt Bodensee Card guest card, since you pay the vistors tax.  With this card you have free travel on buses and trains in the entire area of the Bodensee-Oberschwaben Verkehrsverbund (bodo) and benefit from numerous advantages and discounts at around 185 excursion destinations, leisure and cultural attractions on Lake Constance.

visitor's tax - when and how much?

As in almost all German spa and recreation resorts, a visitor tax is also levied in Lindau am Bodensee. By paying this spa tax, you support, among other things, the maintenance of numerous signposted walking, cycling and hiking trails, the freely accessible lakeside and green spaces and many other areas of the tourist infrastructure.

The visitor’s tax will be levied in the period from 1 April to 31 October 2021 and amounts to €3.30/day for people aged 16 and over and €2.00/day for children and young people aged six to 15 inclusive.

In the period from 1 November 2021 to 31 March 2022, the spa fee is €2.20/day for persons aged 16 and over and €1.20/day for children and young people aged six to 15 inclusive.

Children under the age of six are exempt from the spa tax.

In part of the Lindau district of Reutin, which has a predominantly commercial structure, there is no obligation to pay spa tax. Therefore, no guest card can be issued there. The remaining area of the Reutin district is subject to visitor tax.

Duty to pay contributions for all

According to the visitors tax statutes, owners of second homes are also liable for the visitors tax.

Holders of a severely disabled pass with a degree of disability of at least 50 receive a 50% reduction on presentation of the severely disabled pass. Provided that the necessity of a permanent accompanying person is proven by a corresponding note in the severely disabled pass (“feature B”), the necessary accompanying person also receives this reduction. Nevertheless, you will receive a guest card in order to benefit from the EBC discounts.

Visitors tax

All holiday guests staying in Lindau for health and recreation purposes in the period from 1 April to 31 October and 1 November to 31 March are liable to pay visitors tax.

Business travellers and participants in conferences and congresses as well as children up to the age of 6 are exempt from the obligation to pay visitors tax.
